A Stitch-less T-shirt

This is the first time, I wear a stitch-less T-shirt. And I thought of writing a short write-up on this. I will introduce the stitch-less garment and then share a few notes on the stitch-less t-shirt.

What is a stitch-less garment?

As the name says, a garment that is made without using stitches is known as a stitch-less garment. A garment that is made of components, but garment components are joined together without using a sewing machine and stitches. Instead, garment components are joined together by means of heat sealing and bonding technology. It is also called a stitch-less seam and the technology is known as sew-free seaming.

What is the difference between a Normal T-shirt and a Stitch-less T-shirt?

In normal t-shirt manufacturing, fabric cut components are sewn together by means of stitching machines. On the other hand, a stitch-less t-shirt is made by using a heat sealing machine and adhesive tapes. A t-shirt is made of a number of fabric patterns, normally all knitted fabric components.

My stitch-less T-shirt made of the following components

It is a t-shirt with a denim fabric collar, chest pocket and front placket.
  1. Collar (denim fabric).
  2. Front panel
  3. Back panel
  4. Two sleeve panels
  5. Chest Pocket (Denim fabric and zipper)
  6. The side panel of denim fabric for decorating purpose
  7. Front placket (denim fabric)

A single piece collar joined to the t-shirt neck.

All seams, like shoulder join, sleeve hem, bottom hem, armhole join, side seam and underarm are sealed by using heat sealing technology.

In the front, there is an additional panel of denim fabric on one side. The woven denim fabric panel is bonded using the heat-sealing method.

The check pocket is attached on the front panel using adhesive tape.

For reinforcement in the thicker areas, back-tack stitches are applied (example: underarm joint)

The T-shirt fabric is of knitted Polyester and Lycra. When I wear it, I do not feel any difference in terms of a comfort compared to normal t-shirt. I have not yet washed it. At this moment can’t comment on the durability of stitch-less seams.

This t-shirt is made by using H&H hot air sealing machine.
